If you look in many backyards across the country, you will typically find a grill. These range from charcoal to gas grills and from small to huge. There is a grill that is coming to the front of the pack, so to speak. Many homes will soon have infrared grills to replace their traditional grill. If you look in many backyards across the country, you will typically find a grill. These range from charcoal to gas grills and from small to huge. There is a grill that is coming to the front of the pack, so to speak. Many homes will soon have infrared grills to replace their traditional grill. They are increasing in popularity, although they have been around since the early eighties.
Many people ask the question how are these grills different from any other. The main reason is in the way they cook the food. Some people may think because it is infrared it does not use a flame or gas. This is not true. To start this grill you will still have to use some sort of propane or natural gas. Once lit this will heat up a ceramic tile in the bottom of the grill.
A traditional grill cooks using either convection or conduction heat methods. With this type of cooking, you can run into the problem of your food not cooking evenly. Infrared grills cook using heat by radiation. This does not mean a laser is cooking it as some might think.
Heating up the ceramic tile will take some time. This is not instant. Be aware that this grill will get hotter faster than a traditional grill can. With radiant heat cooking, your food will cook evenly. While many use charcoal or gas grills, they run into the meat not being done the same throughout the meat. Cooking with an infrared grill will cut the cooking time in half of a traditional grills time.
Many people pose the question is this type of cooking safe. No one is sure yet on what the side effects, if there are any, would be from using this cooking method. This will be your own personal opinion on whether you choose to cook with this method.
One other advantage of cooking with this grill is it can be used in any type of weather. Rain, wind, and colder temperatures all affect cooking and heating of a traditional grill. This does not happen with an infrared. Also, there are less flareups on this grill. Anything that falls down on the tile will basically vaporize. With charcoal grills there can be flames and fires flare up that is dangerous and can burn the food. This does make you able to monitor the grill from farther distances and makes it safer for everyone around.
A grill is a great, healthy way to prepare your meat and other foods. Although some grills are only used during the summer, you can use the infrared year round. Research the type of grills available before buying. Talk with your families to make sure which type will work best for you.
